Staff Favorite Fidgets
By Katie Schubert
Every child learns in different ways. For some, a quiet environment is the best way to study and learn. For others, background music gets the brain thinking. And for yet others, keeping their hands busy is the best way to keep their heads clear and minds ready to learn. For these children, using a small fidget toy quietly may help reduce the need to tap their feet, drum their fingers or wriggle their bodies.
One of the most important factors when choosing a fidget for your little learner is making sure it won’t distract their fellow students. Fidgets that make noise, emit light, or are large and distracting, are a definite no-go in the classroom. When selecting a fidget, consider durability and how rough and tough your child is with their toys. You may also wish to think about size. Is this fidget going in your kid’s pocket or in their school bag? Another factor to consider is whether texture matters to your child. Do they prefer smooth textures or rough ones?
Child’s Play has a large assortment to meet every kid’s needs. From
small to large, sturdy to flexible and more, we have fidgets for every age
and budget.
Here are some staff picks of our favorite fidgets:
Katie B. – Simpl Dimpl Keyring - $2.5
Katie B. recommends the Simpl Dimpl keychain for kids and grown-ups alike. It's a small, quiet fidget with a convenient clip, so you can take it anywhere! It's also durable, and great for school or on the go. The Simpl Dimpl is a minimal, yet satisfying fidget, so it's no surprise that it has become a favorite among many staff members.
Katie S. – Globby $7.99
Kate S. recommends Globby! Globby is great for squeezable stress relief, as well as satisfying stretchy action. Sturdy rubber makes Globby great for tactile fidgeters.
Lisa – Dimpl $9.99
Lisa is a fan of the Dimpl fidget by Fat Brain Toys®. Similar to the Simpl Dimpl Keyring, the Dimpl fidget is a convenient, handheld size for all ages. This fidget feels similar to pressing buttons or popping bubble wrap. The silicone bubbles are durable, while also being smooth and flexible.
Erica – Shashibo $21.99 – 24.99
Erica recommends the Shashibo fidget cube! Great for older kids and teens, the Shashibo is a flippable, foldable cube that can transform into several geometric shapes. Smooth, glossy paper covers the surface, and magnets allow the segments to connect with a soft clicking sound.
